Joke for Your Health???

Jokes. What are they? According to the dictionary a joke is “something said or done to evoke laughs or amusement, esp. an amusing story with a punch line.” Or can be a mischievous trick or prank. They are used to make people laugh. If done with a sense of innocence it can be a lot of fun. They can be used to cheer people up to help someone get over a bad situation.
Today many doctors recommend laughter as medicine. Joking around can help people cope with serious situations. It helps people laugh at themselves at times so that it doesn’t become overwhelming. I am not saying to laugh at you or anyone else, but at a situation so that it doesn’t look so sad.
When a person is hit with many situations at once that are out of their control, this can cause severe depression. Then if a friend knows how to joke around this can help conquer the depression. A really good laugh releases endorphins into the body which is what is needed. Endorphins are natural chemicals in the body that make you feel good. Jokes can be some of the best medicine today if done in a proper fashion. I highly recommend a really good laugh at east daily.

Life in General

Anybody can cope with life when everything is going good, but what happens when life goes bad, and turns ugly? Do we throw in the towel and call it quits?

It has been said that life is like the stock market–you must stick with it through the highs and the lows. So, how does one do it when the bottom falls out and we come crashing down?

First, sit down and take a deep breath and remember this–your thoughts control your feelings. How you deal with your crisis is your responsibility. You MUST have control of your feelings. Say to yourself “storms in life come and go. I will survive this one. I will be grateful for the blessings I have.” (Then list them).

Second, start to problem solve. What can I do to get out of this dilemma? What caused it? Sometimes it is just time that is the healing factor if the crisis involves a divorce or death.

Thirdly, try to find others dealing with the same problems and ask them how they are dealing with their problems.

Remember, coping with life is all in the attitude–when life hands you a lemon, you must make lemonade.

Vacationing Nightmare

When you go on vacation you have to expect the unexpected. This I have now learned after our recent vacation this year. Leaving out of Kansas City headed to Florida, nothing but the sun ahead of us. We load up the family (three boys, my husband, and myself). Looking forward to a twenty hour drive I became excited. Driving straight through headed through Tennessee at four in the morning we hit some bad luck, a blown tire. So four hours later and a hundred and fifty dollars we were back on the road. Besides the kids whining in the back seat the drive had been fairly pleasant. Hours later we are going through Atlanta on Christmas Eve we began to hit more bad luck. The car began to overheat. I was in the furthest lane of a six lane freeway and couldn’t get out of traffic in time. We slept in the car through the night till the next morning we had blown a head gasket. We decided to leave the car behind and our friend came and got us. Needless to say by the time that we got there our vacation felt more like a nightmare but we still enjoyed Christmas on the beach!

Little Ears

One time when my son was four years old he had went into the shop and got a ladder out and climbed up on the roof. He then decided he was going to jump to me. I told him he was never allowed on the roof. About a week later my husband came home from the doctor and had an inhaler. He set it on the table. My son was in the living room watching TV when I noticed the inhaler on the table. I told him he would need to put it up so our son could not get it. My husband asked me exactly where he was supposed to put it that my son would not be able to get it. Just then my son came in the room and states, “I know where you can put it, you can put it on the woof because mommy says I am never to climb on the woof again” We laughed so hard and it was so cute. It just goes to show you never know when the little darlings are listening to your conversations. Beware of little ears!!

Kids Jokes

One time when I lived in Missouri my two kids and I were going through our small town. I was headed to the furniture store to buy a new bed. My kids were driving me crazy! They were in the back seat telling silly jokes and being crazy. I wasn’t really paying attention to how fast I was going. When all of a sudden I heard a siren and saw the lights in the mirror behind me. I told my kids they would need to quiet down so I could talk to the police officer. When he approached my window he asked if I knew how fast I was going. I told him I did not as I was listening to my son’s silly joke. The officer asked me to repeat the joke so I told him the joke. “Why did the orange not cross the road?” “He ran out of juice!” the officer said, “You are right that is silly.” He said he would just give me a warning. Sometimes it pays to listen to your kid’s dumb jokes!! It can save you a ticket.

Vacationing

Vacationing designates the present participle of vacation; it could be considered as the act of vacating something, or the act of taking a time away from work, or from any duty for recreation or for some rest or even for pleasure. The fact to take a vacation is an advantage sometime because after a break, we come back full of energy and full of new ideas and determination. In case of vacation without pay, the money lost by that time is not necessary Sometimes we need to pause or stop in order to go faster or to see better the direction where we are going on; it could be the common thought which says it is sometime better to reverse little bit or slow down little bit in order to go faster or to jump much better. At the other end, vacationing is not just an advantage; it could be also negative, when it takes too long without a good resolution or good plan to multiply the efforts; in this case, we could say the money that was lost and the time was just really profitable for the rest; when it was just for the rest then the purpose is achieved; another aspect when vacationing is the fact to let people miss you; the more they miss you they more they could sometime appreciate more your work specially when you were covering things up and your boss didn’t know you were doing extra things for him.

A Little Bit of Everything

I am twenty two years old, married with children, have no job, my children and loved ones are everything. I enjoy waking up and getting the children off too school. I wash, dry, and fold laundry. Each day I choose to wash dishes by hand to save a few bucks not using the dishwasher. I believe that someday my children will follow along the same path and be as neat as I. I watch the news each day and wonder why some of the things that are going on in America are actually going on, and why the government gets away with so much. The price of a gallon of milk costs more than a gallon of gas, what is up with that? I remember when the price of gas was $1.24 a gallon. It was too long ago for me to actually enjoy those gas prices back then. I would prepay the gas for my mom, and pump it for her. I think the way life is now; the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Another thing, why are we helping other countries out with food, money, and water but we can’t even help our own people in our own country?

7 Tips For A Healthy Pond

Water gardens are wonderful to have, but they do require some maintenance. Here are some tips to keep your pond healthy and attractive.

Remove debris often. Use a skimming tool to remove debris from the water surface. This will mean fewer toxins in the water and cleaner water for your plants and fish. In the fall, screen your pond to prevent fallen leaves from adding too much organic matter to the water.
Tend to water plants. Prune and divide as needed. Add either organic or chemical fertilizer to potted plants about once a month.
Leave bacteria alone. The bottom of your pool, the surface of rocks, and the base of plants all provide places for healthy bacteria to live. They eliminate toxins in the water, so don’t scrub these areas. If you see long algae growing, though, take it out.
Introduce natural bacterial enzymes. These products break down organic matter quickly.
Avoid overfeeding fish. Excess food floats in the water and breaks down into nutrients that feed algae. Feed fish once a day in spring, summer, and fall, when the water is warm. Fish don’t need food in winter because they can’t digest food in cold water temperatures. Give them only as much as they can eat in five minutes.
Check pH, ammonia, and nitrite levels. Test a new pond quarterly: test older water gardens twice a year in spring and fall.
Maintain equipment. Clean fountain heads and pump intake valves to keep them running properly. Check and clean mechanical and biological filters routinely.
