Tips for the inexperienced bowler

Bowling is a sport/game of finesse and skill despite is recreational connotation. While many view bowling as a last resort on a boring Friday night, it can actually be quite the competitive and engaging activity. Although one may grow very frustrated very quickly with bowling, it is more than likely that said person has little or no experience. So, for the amateur male looking to impress a girl or something along those lines, I have a few tips. First and foremost, there are arrows on the lane, USE THEM. Instead of slinging the ball down the lane without a care, take a second to visually line up your shot. Secondly, use a ball that is the right weight. While you may look strong as you’re firing your 2 pound ball down the lane, it will not knock any pins down no matter how straight your shot is, which definitely doesn’t help your display of strength. Lastly, respect the game of bowling and act like a gentleman. Don’t throw the ball uncontrollably on the lane as it will cause dents and divots affecting all who bowl after you. Do these things, and you may look like you actually look like you know what you’re doing, no matter how inexperienced you may be.

Road Trip

I lived in Arizona for 24 years before moving to Georgia, my husband Bob born and raised in Indiana, had never seen Arizona. With my family still living there, when the opportunity rose, we drove cross country. We stopped, taking in the sights every state we drove through, adding pictures to our photo album. As far as beauty goes, every state offered something special.

We stopped at a truck stop to get a bite to eat. It had signs with suction cups you could put in your passenger window. We liked having fun, so we purchased “Pardon me, do you have some cheap yellow mustard?” Cars would pull up beside us and people would be roaring with laughter. It was a fun and memorable trip for the both of us

Lifestyles

Belonging to the Girls Scouts of America, there were the weekly meetings, cookie sales and my favorite, camping. In eighth grade Mrs. Roberts, who was our Troop Leader said we were going to start training to hike down and camp in the Grand Canyon in Arizona. .

Every morning before school we would walk along the canals, soon we were hiking up and down Squaw Peak Mountain wearing our back packs loaded down. After school was out, we loaded up our gear into a trailer, got into cars and headed up north from Phoenix Arizona heading to the Grand Canyon. We got there in the late afternoon. We camped out on top that night. Bright and early the next morning, we started the hike down the side of the Grand Canyon. The path is four feet wide at best, dirt and rock. Tread carefully, or slip and fall. We all made it to the bottom and with a few breaks we hiked on in to the Havasupai campground. Not far were the Havasupai Waterfall, crystal clear water, 63 degrees, and living coral. Unbeatable beauty, well worth the hike! Love nature’s beauty?

Daily Organizer-How to Stay Organized Throughout Your Day

To forget is human but if it happens all the time you need to take some serious action. From your Doctor’s Appointment, business meeting or getting clothes from the dry cleaners if you miss on one thing you may be in for dire consequences.

A Daily Organizer is a life saver and your secretary that will remind you of your scheduled meetings and appointments.

It is not just for the working or business class. For a home maker it is equally useful as it has calendar, calculator, name, address, phone no. tab, pouches where you can store your grocery coupons and space to write whatever you want. You can maintain a file of your weekly expense and thus keep a track of your finances.

Time management is the mantra to organize business, home, family and recreation. All this makes a healthy you and it should be balanced. An organizer always lets you be focused. Doesn’t let you miss on anything and makes you in charge of the situation.

Your Daily organizer is your friend and will keep your personal information safe, like your password. It is increasingly annoying to remember password s for each and everything like you wireless phone, your internet and TV account not to forget your email ids and bank passwords. Keep your organizer safe in your drawer or with you and it will never tell a word to anyone.

You can also mention due dates and payment details in your daily organizer so that you don’t miss on a payment and end up paying extra money as late fees. You must understand that it is only useful if you store information and go through it every night before going to sleep. Let your life run on planning ahead, after all most of the top notch businesses have been made as they planned ahead.

Here’s a quick list of some of the things that a daily organizer can help you with:

To-do List: If not generating reports you can mention the list of chores you need to undertake. Address Book: For good contacts you must know whom to contact. An address book is always a good idea to keep a record of email ids and of course phone numbers.

Expense Reports: You will solve half of your financial advisor’s problems if you keep a record of your expenses. If your office reimburses checks for travel then you definitely need to have all your expense report ready.

Password Organizer: One can hardly live without a password organizer these days.

World Clocks: Stay connected with different time zones through your world clock.

Calendar: Anytime organizer has a calendar according to which you can plan when to do what. You can also personalize it by changing the color; choose a font you want and so on.

Birthdays and Anniversaries: People won’t complain that they are hurt anymore because you didn’t remember their birthdays and anniversaries. You can set alarms and tickers for important meetings and schedules. When used effectively, a daily organizer will enable you to live a healthy and productive life.

Vacationing on the Beach

If you like fun, sun and beaches, a great place to visit is Treasure Island located in sunny Florida on the Gulf of Mexico, from the balcony of the Ramada Inn, located right on the beach, you can view the gulf, people sunning and the various ways people have fun. My husband and I were feeling adventurous, and sought out something exciting to do in the afternoon. We went to Johns Pass where there is a great shopping opportunity. In our endeavors we came across a booth that was selling tickets for Para-sailing, my husband and I discussed it for a couple of moments and opted to go ahead and purchase the tickets. Soon we found ourselves on the docks, putting on life jackets and being ushered into a boat. We were taken into the Gulf and the both of us got fastened in to a halter, standing on the back of the boat and holding onto a steel bar we floated up into the air. What a thrill! We went up 600 ft into the air and it was wonderful fun. Something we will remember for the rest of our lives. Want to have some fun?

Herbal Skin Care

Skin care is not a topic of recent times; it has been in practice since ancient times, when herbal skin care was probably the only way to take care of skin. However, skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skin care routines. The herbal skin care recipes which once used to be common place are not so popular today (and even unknown to a large population). This transformation from herbal skin care to synthetic, can probably be attributed to two things – our laziness (or just the fast pace of lives) and the commercialization of skin care. Even herbal skin care products have been commercialized. These commercial herbal skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home. However, it seems that things are changing fast and more people are now opting for natural and herbal skin care routines. But still, none want to make them at home and hence the commercial market of herbal skin care products is on the rise.
So what are these herbs or herbal skin care mechanisms?
Aloe vera, which is an extract from Aloe plant, is one of the best examples of herbal skin care product. Freshly extracted aloe vera is a natural hydrant that helps in soothing skin. It also helps in healing cuts and treating sun burns.
A number of herbs are known to possess cleansing properties. Dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary herbs, are a few examples of such cleansers. Their herbal skin care properties get invoked when they are combined with other herbs like tea.
Antiseptics are another important part of Herbal skin care. Lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel are good examples of herbs that are known to possess antiseptic properties. Lavender water and rose water also form good toners.
Tea plays an important part in herbal skin care. Tea extracts are used for treatment of skin that has been damaged by UV radiation.
Oils prepared from herbal extracts present another means of herbal skin care. Tea tree oil, Lavender oil, borage oil and primrose oil are some popular oils used in herbal skin care. Some fruit oils (e.g. extracts from fruits like banana, apple and melon) find use in shower gels (as a hydrating mix)
Homeopathic treatments and aromatherapies also come under the umbrella of herbal skin care remedies.
Herbal skin care is good not only for the routine nourishing of skin but also for treatment of skin disorders like eczema and psorasis. Most herbal skin care products don’t have any side effects (the most important reason for preferring them over synthetic products) Moreover, herbal skin care products can be easily made at home, hence making them even more attractive. So, herbal skin care is the way to go. However, this does not mean that you totally discard the synthetic products. Some people go to the extent of debating with their dermatologist, if he/she suggests a synthetic product. You should accept the fact that some skin orders might need usage of clinically proven non-herbal skin care products.

A Hobby Greenhouse Will Get You Growing!

For people who would like to do more gardening but live in a short growing season area, a hobby greenhouse is the answer. A hobby greenhouse is not large enough to produce vegetables or flowers on a commercial basis. It will, however, give you a place for a tomato plant or two and some fresh greens even if you live in the northern regions. Greenhouse enthusiasts even have their own association, called the Hobby Greenhouse Association, which publishes a quarterly magazine. The organization also sponsors events and helps individuals connect to get help with the aspect of gardening that they are interested in, whether it’s growing cacti or saving seeds.

If you are in the market for a hobby greenhouse, there are several types on the market. The smallest type is not large enough to walk into and must be accessed from the outside. It resembles an old-fashioned phone booth made all of glass and outfitted with shelves. This type is designed to fit as many plants as possible in as small a place as possible. The shelves are made of glass to allow as much light as possible to reach plants on the lower shelves. Another inexpensive version of this sort of hobby greenhouse is shelving covered with a zippered tent of clear plastic. This sort of arrangement is great for the small-scale hobby gardener wanting a place to keep her flowers or houseplant starts.

There are a variety of designs of hobby greenhouse that are large enough to walk into but made entirely of clear glass or plastic. They are often about the same size as a small storage building. Some independent builders have started making these to sell locally. Among national brands, one of the nicest is called the “Solar Prism.” It is called this because of its unique construction. This hobby greenhouse is made of a single piece of durable clear plastic which is designed to work like tiny prisms side by side. They trap the rays of the sun and shoot them back into the greenhouse at all angles. For this reason, these little greenhouses are said to glow when the weather is cloudy.

Better hobby greenhouses are equipped with automatic sensors that open vents which allow ventilation and keep the interior temperatures from getting too high. These are a great labor saver, but can get expensive. Another benefit sometimes found in nicer greenhouses is a built in irrigation or misting system. Members of the Hobby Greenhouse Association, or HGA, have invented many interesting designs of greenhouses.

If gardening is your hobby, greenhouse growing will interest you. With a greenhouse, you can have the earliest tomatoes and salad greens all year. You can also start seedlings for the main garden early in the spring when outdoor temperatures would kill them. A hobby greenhouse can be a good investment.

Who Done It?

Yes, the headline is a blooper! Seriously, the slang of our society is a great example of change in lifestyles. Traditions handed down throughout the ages have been changed by each generation, and our ‘melting pot’ America embraces the colorful blends of all people who bring native traditions to life’s stage. Listening to the music, watching movies, and going shopping will bombard your senses with the mixture of cultures that create the panorama of American lifestyles.

In the social realm of society, the family unit has always been the mainstay for purpose and pride. The traditional family gatherings for celebrations of birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries are merged with our church family gatherings. Isn’t it wonderful that history is recorded by the church records! Our ancestry quest is easily discovered because those records were guarded faithfully by our forefathers. I plugged in my great grandfather’s name on a world genealogy disc and became ecstatic as the pages flipped from New York State to Rome, 500 A.D. exposing the ancestral travel!

Knowing how I landed here, and realizing how the traditions were kept, makes me feel responsible to carry them forward. The history of the ages is filled with tyranny, war, and horror, but people were strong and did more than survive. Our ancestors had pride and determination to forge ahead and build solid lifestyles by adapting, changing and learning. The lesson to learn: Respect your elders, for they have been there, and did that!
